STANDARDS

Responsibility & Innovation

We take our responsibilities seriously. From the welfare of the animals in our care to the environmental impact of our operations, we are committed to doing things the right way. Through responsible sourcing, rigorous standards and continued investment, we work to protect our animals, environment and communities.

ANIMAL WELFARE

Euro Farm Foods follows industry best practice in animal handling and welfare, ensuring livestock are treated responsibly at every stage while supporting the consistently high quality of our products. All personnel who work with animals must complete our dedicated animal welfare training and demonstrate the required level of competency before being authorised to handle livestock. Wherever possible, we source livestock from farms close to our facilities, helping to reduce journey times and minimise the impact of transportation. Hauliers are also reviewed and approved annually to ensure our animal welfare standards are maintained throughout transport.

MIRIAM PARKER

Our animal welfare training sessions are delivered by Miriam Parker of Livestockwise, a recognised specialist in animal behaviour and livestock welfare. Tailored specifically to our facilities, the sessions provide employees with the practical knowledge and skills required to handle animals responsibly and with care.

SUSTAINABILITY

Our ‘green’ ethos is what drives us to constantly strive to increase efficiencies in our processes and reduce inputs while maintaining our high levels of product quality. The Euro Farm Foods factory is licensed by and operates under the regulation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Ireland.

Euro Farm Foods invested in 500kW solar panels in 2022. PV panels were installed to generate energy from a 100% renewable source, reducing dependence on electrical supply from the grid.

Euro Farm Foods invested in an ‘EscoPod’ system in 2018, a heat transfer system delivering the hot water required in our production process in an environmentally efficient manner. This investment removed the need for fossil fuels to generate hot water and reduced our carbon emissions to zero, saving over 850 tonnes per year.
